13 Startup Acronyms Every Wantrepreneur Must Know

You’re a wantrepreneur. You dream of being an entrepreneur and starting your own business, but you’re still in the “want” stage and not the “doing” stage. You have the idea, or in my case many ideas, but you don’t know where to start.

The first thing you find when you begin research life as an entrepreneur is that everyone is talking in acronyms! Keeping track of all these new terms is frustrating, but it’s a must if you hope to enter that world.

I’ve created this list of 13 startup acronyms and their definitions to help you along your journey. It will help you understand the world of a startup founder and the acronyms and definitions they use. This list can be used for all types of businesses, but as always, I am focusing on tech startups.

Three Must Listen to Startup Podcasts

I’m a podcast junkie. I especially like startup podcasts and listen to them all the time. I’ve even been known to sit in my car in the driveway because I’m unable to tear myself away from the podcast.

I recently scaled down the number of startup podcasts I listen to from seven to three. Sadly, there just is not enough time in the day for me to listen to my favorite startup podcasts, work, train and write. Not to mention have a bit of a social life.

I can’t begin to tell you how many podcasts I listened to before I settled on seven, so scaling down to three was tough. I came up with the following criteria to help me determine which startup podcasts to stick with:

Why I’m Learning To Code

I’m learning to code. I’ve wanted to learn how to code for years, but I never made the commitment. While in college I took Visual Basic 6, C++ and Visual C++ classes and to be honest, I didn’t do great. They were not my best subjects and quite frankly didn’t keep my attention; too many “SQUIRREL!” moments.

But now I’m committed (or should be committed) to learning to code. I’ve made the commitment and now I’m making it a priority.
